Association

Established in 1887 originally as the Medicine Hat Agricultural Society and then the Medicine Hat Turf Association until April 1936 when a group of citizens propositioned the City of Medicine Hat council to form a new company under the name of The Medicine Hat Stampede & Exhibition Company. It was again in May of 1947 after a few years of interruptions due to wars and depression era that the name was changed again to the Medicine Hat Exhibition & Stampede Company with an annual operating budget of only $55,000.

Today the operation still resumes under the direction of roughly 84 Directors, Honorary Directors and Associate Directors and an annual operating budget of over $2 million dollars most of which stays in the local economy of Medicine Hat.
