General Rules & Guidelines

  1. All handicraft, children's and sewing entries will be accepted on Saturday, July 19/08, from 12:00 noon to 5:00 p.m., and Sunday, July 20/08, from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Bring entries to the Cypress Centre - watch for signs.
Please note: This is the week prior to the exhibition. Late entries will not be accepted.

  2. All food entries will be accepted at the Cypress Centre on Monday, July 19/08, from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., and Tuesday. July 22/08, from 8:30 a.m. until noon.
Please note: Late entries will not be accepted. All food entries in this section become the property of the Medicine Hat Exhibition.

  3. Out-of-town entries may be mailed to the Medicine Hat Exhibition and Stampede, Box 1298, Medicine Hat, Alberta, T1A 7N1. Include entry fee with entries.
Please note: We are not responsible for the return of submitted items.

  4. No exhibitor may take more than one entry in any one class or they will be disqualified.

  5. No article will be eligible for a prize that has been previously entered at the Medicine Hat Exhibition and Stampede.

  6. All articles exhibited must be homemade, home-baked, homegrown entries of the individual Exhibitor and must have been made within the last 5 years. All entries must be clean.

  7. In the absence of competition in any class, or if the items are of inferior quality, the judge shall exercise her discretion as to whether she shall award 1st, 2nd or any prize.

  8. On occasion, a miscellaneous class may be subdivided at the discretion of the convenor and/or the judges if the number of entries warrant such action.

  9. Only one First, Second, or Third prize can be awarded in each class.

  10. Exhibitors must fill out the entry form and tag. Once the entry is properly tagged, remove the claim check and retain. As claim checks are required for identification in claiming prize money, winners should claim their prize money before surrendering the check and re-claiming the entry. Claim checks will be marked paid or non-pickup.

  11. Prize money is available from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 24, Friday, July 25, and Saturday, July 26/08 until 6:00 p.m.
Exhibitors: Stampede is full swing and gate admission will be in effect.

  12. Entries and prize money may be picked up by presenting the claim check between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 27/08.

  13. Security precautions will be taken, but the Medicine Hat Exhibition and Stampede will not be responsible for loss or damage to entries.

  14. Medicine Hat Exhibition and Stampede employees, convenors, judges, and their immediate families (that is those residing under the same roof) are excluded from competition in their respective sections.

  15. All exhibitors wishing to view their exhibit are responsible for their entry into the Stampede Grounds.
